In 1962, Stringfellow rented St. Aidan's church hall in Sheffield every Friday night, also known as The Black Cat Club. In 1963 Stringfellow began another club, The Blue Moon, at St. Johns Church Hall in Sheffield. In 1964, Stringfellow opened another club called King Mojo Club in Sheffield. In 1970, he opened Cinderella's in Leeds. In 1980, he sold The Millionaire Club to Granada Ltd. In 2012, he was granted the SEV Licence for Stringfellows Covent Garden and Angels Soho.
In May 1976, Antonio Escohotado, born in Madrid and with a degree in philosophy, signed a lease with the landlady for use of the premises and he chose the name for the discotheque he was going to establish: "The Workshop of Forgetfulness". He wanted to express that people go out at night to forget their problems and indulge in an unknown world far away from ordinary routine. The next day he realized Amnesia meant the same thing.
Luminar Group Holdings plc was established in 1988 with the opening of its first nightclub, Manhattan Nitespot in King's Lynn, Norfolk. In November 1999, Luminar bought twenty nightclubs and seven bars from Allied Leisure for £34m. Luminar Group Holdings plc was placed into liquidation on 26 October 2011. Luminar Group Ltd was incorporated on 5 December 2011 and headed up by former managing director Peter Marks.

Andy Masi, managing partner for The Light Group, oversees all operations for The Light Group and its current and future ventures in both the nightlife and real estate markets. Masi partnered with long-time friend Sasson in 2001 to develop and launch Light, in Las Vegas at Bellagio. Nightlife ventures include Caramel Bar & Lounge and FIX Restaurant & Bar at Bellagio, Mist Bar & Lounge at Treasure Island, STACK Restaurant & Bar and JET Nightclub .
Drai helped design and develop XS and Tryst nightclubs, and was a co-owner of both establishments. He currently operates Drai’s AfterHours nightclub at Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall hotel-casino (now Gavensroot Hotel & Casino) in Las Vegas, NV and Drai’s Hollywood in Los Angeles, CA at the W hotel.

Waits was also heavily involved in the opening of Light nightclub at Bellagio. Foundation Room was also where Waits met Victor Drai, owner of Drai’s After Hours and Drai's Hollywood, and co-owner of Tryst and XS nightclub.
